Development of Social Rehabilitation Educational module May-June 28-6, 2006 As part of the project "Social integration of persons with disabilities in Volga Federal
District" RAET participates in training of the teachers in Saint Petersburg on the theme
"Development of a training module on social rehabilitation for universities". Participants: Representatives of universities N. Novgorod, Cheboksar, Perm, Kazan, Samara, Saratov Development of Social Rehabilitation Educational module May, 10-13, 15-18, June 18-21, 2006 Within the limits of the project "Social integration of persons with disabilities in the Volga Federal District" RAET takes part in carrying out of trainings "Development of an educational module on social rehabilitation for universities" at the University of the Russian Academy of Education (Nizhny Novgorod).
Goals: Participants: Representatives of universities N. Novgorod, Cheboksar, Perm, Kazan, Samara, Saratov. Project in Priozersk boarding school March, 2006 Russian Association of Ergotherapy launched two projects in Priozersk boarding school for mentally retarded children. The project on Improvement of quality of a life of children with serious violations of development, living in Priozersk the house-boarding school. The given project passes within the limits of program СПРИЛО which aims to prevent poverty in Leningrad Area, with support of DFID fund. the Basic participants of the project: Priozersk house-boarding school for mentally retarded children and Russian Association of Ergoterapy. During the project a research is planned which involves the restructuring of the "Miloserdiye" (Mercy) section for a small group of children (12 persons), also will be implemented 1 year individual programme for each of the 12 children based on basic approaches of occupational therapy. Project supported by Mr.Bosch Stiftung (Germany), aims to conduct training courses for Priozersk boarding school personnel on basic approaches of occupational therapy to work with children with serious violations development. Key players: Priozersk boarding school, Russian Association of Ergotherapy, a children's home for children with multiple violations Erlenbush city of Hamburg, Germany. Conference 1 and 2 of December held IV International Conference "Restorative Medicine and Occupational therapy in North-West Region", with assistance of Mechnikov Academy and Swedish Federation of Occupational Therapy. Dear Collegues! Since 1999, at the Faculty of excellence St. Petersburg State Medical Academy supported by
the Swedish Association of Occupational therapy there is an Occupational therapy educational
course for doctors. The programme is designed for two years and correspond to standards of
World Association of Occupational Therapy. Currently, announced an enrolment of the third
programme, which will be held from November 2003. This is full-time/part-time distance learning.
This program is unique and has no analogues in Russia. Ergotherapy (Occupational Therapy) is
the knowledge of how to build or rebuild persons capacities, despite irregularities in
the development, disease, injuries and their consequences. In most European countries,
the profession has been in existence for over 60 years. Occupational therapy goal - is to
restore or strengthen capacities of people with disabilities (physical, mental, cognitive,
emotional), to create optimal conditions for the patient's daily life and, ultimately,
improve the quality of life, helping to maximize independence. The distinguishing feature
of occupational therapy is its interdisciplinarity. In their work occupational therapists
use knowledge from all the fields of medicine as biomechanicks, pedagogics, psychology,
sociology, etc. Therapists involved in work with patients of different age groups
in virtually all fields of medicine. They work in hospitals, clinics, polyclinics,
rehabilitation centers, sanatoriums, day hospitals, special schools and pre-schools,
in family medicine and industrial. Planned short practical course in Sweden.
